Humans of Ypsilanti (6 of 7): Anaya Parker King

by SEMIS Coalition | May 20, 2023 | Community Forum 2023 | 1 comment

Interview with Anaya Parker King

Where did you grow up? How long have you lived in Ypsi?

I grew up in Flint. I lived in Ypsi since I was in 2nd grade. I went to Adams elementary. I was born in Flint.

How do you like Ypsilanti?

I hate it here. Ypsi is boring. They need amusement parks. When I was little, it didn’t affect me not having stuff to do, I had my imagination, but now there’s nowhere to go and nothing to do. There’s nowhere specific I want to be. My favorite park in Ypsi is the one across from the community center.

Do you feel like you belong here?

I’ve never been the type to fit in anywhere.

Where do you see yourself in 4 years?

I see myself as an entrepreneur. I’d be in college- Eastern Michigan. (I see myself..) making my own money, running my own business.

Aniya–I really appreciate what you said about imagination. Why do you think many of us have great imaginations when we are younger and then as we get older, lose that ability. I never remember being bored as a child 🙂
